Happy Husband Buffalo Wings
Have you ladies figured out what makes your husband happy? It can be many things, obviously…but one thing that makes mine happy is some good chicken wings. No need to go out on a Friday night when we have chicken wings from our own Cornish meat birds in the freezer.
His request was “I want some buffalo wings…but you can make whatever you want.” So…after much thought, I decided to whip these wings up for our Friday night meal.
I’ve always been kind of clueless when it comes to Buffalo sauce because I’m not really a fan. But my husband sure is, so I wanted to think something up that would make him jump for joy.
Happy Husband Buffalo Wings
Preheat oven to 375 degrees
¼ cup hot sauce (We are loyal Texas Pete people. Thanks, Papaw Wes, who eats Texas Pete with literally every meal.)
3 tbsp butter
½ tsp salt
½ tsp pepper
1 tsp paprika (smoked or no)
½ tsp garlic powder
Sprinkle red pepper flakes, depending on your tolerance for heat.
-Stir together, melting the butter if it is not softened already.-
Coat 6 chicken wings with this mixture. There will be some leftover. That’s perfect, because we will be using it later. (Our chicken wings are pretty big because we raise our Cornish meat birds til they are pretty good sized.)
Thirty minutes into cooking time, coat the wings again with the buffalo sauce. Then ADD PARMESAN CHEESE. All over the wings. Oh yes, this is the good part.
Cook for 30 more minutes, or until they are good and crispy. If there is any sauce leftover, dip the wings in the sauce. Or just put some more Texas Pete all over ‘em.
My husband could hardly contain himself. If you want to get real fancy, serve the wings with some ranch. Salad or no, for some reason, ranch makes wings better.
(The women and children version for chicken wings is as follows: Coat the wings in a mixture of honey, vinegar, olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Much milder than my husband’s preferred spicy buffalo. But he’s pretty special, so he gets special chicken every now and then 😉.)
